This platform is a digital pendant to the Literary Guide to the Tributaries of the Danube. The Guide is a collection of profiles, each one dedicated to a water stream, be it a large and powerful river or a seemingly insignifcant brook, ultimately flowing into the Danube. As the « beautiful blue Danube» has sparked the imagination and creative energy of so many writers, the smaller rivers pertaining to its basin have too, but without gaining the same scholarly recognition. Running, to use a widespread metaphor, upstream, the authors of these profiles have been fishing for stories lying on the bed and surface of these rivers.

How do these « minor» narratives relate to the «major» danubian tradition? Do they all share some common threads? Does anything like a river-literature exist? These questions were addressed in such a manner as to invite both scholars and a general readership to linger on these river banks.

Questa piattaforma è una versione digitale della Guida letteraria agli affluenti del Danubio. La guida è una raccolta di schede, ciascuna delle quali dedicata a un diverso un corso d’acqua, che sia un lungo fiume possente o un torrente apparentemente insignificante, che si getta infine nel Danubio. Come il «bel Danubio blu» ha acceso la fantasia e le energie creative di moltissimi scrittori, così anche i fiumi più piccoli appartenenti al suo bacino, ma senza ottenere altrettanto riconoscimento presso gli studiosi. Risalendo, per usare una metafora molto diffusa, controcorrente, gli autori di queste schede sono andati a pescare storie sul fondo e alla superficie di questi fiumi.

Come si rapportano queste narrazioni “minori” con la tradizione “maggiore” danubiana? Condividono dei tratti in comune? Esiste qualcosa di simile a una “letteratura fluviale”? Tali questioni sono affrontate in modo da invitare sia ricercatori sia un pubblico più generale a sostare sulle sponde di questi fiumi.
